TIL the hard way that frozen veggie bags can be a total ripoff

I grabbed a bag of frozen broccoli florets at the grocery store because it was on sale for $3.50. Got home and it was mostly stems and chopped up leaves, maybe 40% actual florets. Paid basically $1.50 for the good bits I actually wanted. Has anyone found a brand that actually gives you the real stuff or do we just accept this?

That's rough. Hate when you pay for the good stuff and get the scraps instead. Birds Eye has been okay for me but honestly I just buy frozen veggies from the store brand now and accept the disappointment.

Fun fact frozen veggies are actually flash frozen within hours of being picked so they can sometimes have MORE nutrients than fresh stuff that sits in a truck for days. That being said the quality is all about the water content. If you see a ton of ice crystals in the bag that means the temp fluctuated during shipping and the texture is gonna be mushy. Try the brand "365" from Whole Foods if you have one near you. Their bags are always solid with no frost buildup inside somehow.
