TIL a $2 bag of frozen mixed veggies saved my rice game, not the fancy stuff
Last Tuesday I dumped half a bag of frozen peas and carrots straight into the pot with my rice, water and all, instead of cooking them apart like I usually do. I figured they would turn to mush, but they actually held up fine and soaked up the chicken bouillon, and the whole pot cost me about 90 cents for four servings. Turns out frozen veggies are picked and frozen quick so they keep more taste than the sad fresh ones at my corner store in Akron that sit there for a week. Now I do it with corn and diced onions too, one pot, no extra pan to wash. Anyone got a veggie that goes bad when you cook it right in with the rice?
