Spent $60 on takeout in one week because I kept "not having time" to cook
Last Monday I did the math on my food spending for the previous seven days and it came out to $61 on takeout, mostly because I kept telling myself I was too busy to cook after work. The worst part is I have a full pantry and a fridge with stuff going bad in it. I threw out half a bag of spinach and some chicken I forgot about, which probably cost me another $8. So I finally sat down Sunday and made a big batch of rice, beans, and roasted veggies for maybe $7 total, and it lasted me four lunches. It is not fancy but it filled me up and I did not have to think about it. How do you all stop yourselves from hitting the drive thru when you are tired and the fridge looks like effort?
Watched a $12 burrito bowl get cold on my passenger seat while I told myself I'd cook tomorrow, so clearly I am the last person who should give advice. But keeping those pre-made containers right at eye level in the fridge has actually helped me grab real food before I grab my keys.
