Remember when a full cart of groceries cost $50 and fed you for two weeks?

Now I see people dropping $12 on pre-cut veggies at the Chicago Jewel and I swear my grandma would've smacked them with a wooden spoon for wasting money when a $2 head of cabbage lasts a week.

You ever actually try making cabbage last a week without getting sick of it? My grandma was a depression baby too but she also had a garden and time to cook everything from scratch. Most people I know work two jobs and don't have the energy to chop and prep a whole head of cabbage every night. Plus those pre-cut veggies at Jewel, yeah they're pricey, but they also save you from buying a whole bag of celery that rots in your fridge drawer. I'd rather spend the extra $5 than throw away $3 worth of produce I never got around to using.
