It took me 25 years to figure out I was salting pasta water wrong
I always dumped the salt in after the water started boiling, until my friend's mom saw me do it and asked why I didn't just add it to the cold water. She said it dissolves way better that way and now my pasta actually tastes seasoned instead of salty on top. Anyone else get a basic cooking thing flipped on them this late in the game?

My grandma taught me to salt the water for boiling eggs, not pasta, and I spent years wondering why my pasta always tasted bland until I realized she was talking about a completely different food. It was one of those moments where you feel like you've been living a culinary lie your whole life, like finding out the tooth fairy isn't real but for your taste buds. Now I just dump the salt in whenever I remember, hot or cold, and hope for the best.

Salty eggs and bland pasta, Grandma really set you up for failure.
