Hit $500 in grocery savings last month and it still doesn't feel real
I started tracking every dollar I saved by cooking from scratch instead of buying premade stuff. Last month the total hit $512 compared to what I used to spend at Safeway. That's basically a car payment for me. Has anyone else actually added up their savings and been shocked at the number?

Wait, are you saying you actually tracked every single dollar of savings? I always thought people who talked about that were just estimating, but $512 is a real number. Honestly, I used to roll my eyes at the whole "cook from scratch to save money" advice, figured it was just a trendy thing people said. But seeing that kind of hard proof, especially compared to Safeway prices which are crazy high these days, really changes my mind. I guess I need to start paying closer attention to where my own money goes, don't you think?

Oh man, I feel that. I was exactly the same way, rolling my eyes at anyone who talked about tracking every penny. I thought it was just some kind of flex, you know? But then last month our power bill jumped way up and I got really curious. I sat down one Sunday with a notebook and started adding up my grocery receipts from the week and I was honestly shocked. I had been buying those prechopped veggie trays just for convenience and they were costing me like $8 when a whole head of lettuce and a few carrots was maybe $3 total. It's not that I'm suddenly trying to be super frugal, but actually seeing where the holes are is kind of addictive and makes you want to keep going.
