Friend told me my chili was just 'tomato soup with beans' - brutal but she was right
She pointed out I wasn't browning the meat enough or using any dried chilies, so I started toasting and grinding my own for under a buck at the Mexican market. Anyone else had a blunt friend fix their cooking habits?

My buddy Dave got roasted for serving "depression pasta" (just noodles and ketchup), so his friend taught him to actually caramelize onions. Now he won't shut up about his "authentic Sunday gravy.

Three cans of San Marzanos later and Dave probably thinks he's Mario Batali. @graceprice, did his Sunday gravy actually make it to an actual Sunday dinner or is he still just posting about it on Tuesday afternoon?
