Can we talk about beans as a meat replacement for tacos

I was talking to my neighbor Carol last week while we were both gardening. She said she saves like $30 a month just by using black beans instead of ground beef in her tacos. At first I thought it sounded kinda sad but she made me try one and honestly it was really good. She adds cumin and smoked paprika and a little lime juice. I've done it twice this week now and my grocery bill is already looking smaller. Has anyone else swapped out meat in a recipe and actually liked it better?

Right there with you, man. I swapped pinto beans for chicken in my burritos a couple months back and I'm never going back. Mash em up with some chili powder and garlic, throw in a spoonful of salsa, it's got that same hearty texture. Saves me like eight bucks a week easy plus I don't feel like a beached whale after eating. Carol's onto something good for real.
