The appraiser walked through my house in 12 minutes and killed my $40k cash out plan
I had a guy from the appraisal company come out to my place in Mesa three weeks back for a cash out refi on my duplex. I spent two weekends patching drywall and painting the trim, thought I was sitting pretty on a $40k pull. He was in and out in 12 minutes, didn't even open the closet in the back unit. Then the report comes back and he lowballed me by $31k compared to two comps from this spring that I pulled myself off the county site. I called the lender and they basically shrugged and said the number is the number. Now my whole plan to pay off the truck and the card is dead and I'm out $650 for the appraisal on top of it. Has anyone actually won an appeal on one of these, or do you just eat it and try another lender?
