Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his refi rate was 2.5% and I nearly choked on my latte

He was talking to his friend about pulling out $80k for a new deck and I'm sitting there with my 6.8% rate from last month feeling like I got robbed. Anyone else run into people bragging about rates that make your current one look like a total joke?

Did he lock that in like 3 years ago when rates were actually low though?

@sean_walker45 you're right, rates were way lower three years ago. He probably locked in around 2021 when 30-year mortgages were sitting at 2.8%. A lot of people refinanced back then and now they're sitting pretty.
