My lender's underwriter sat on my appraisal for 6 weeks because of a shed
I started my cash out refi back in early April and figured I'd have the money by Memorial Day. The whole thing got stuck on the appraisal. The guy flagged my detached shed in the backyard because he couldn't figure out if it counted as a separate structure, then the underwriter in Dallas asked for a second look, and that second look took 6 weeks. I called my loan officer twice a week just to hear "it's with underwriting" while my rate lock kept creeping closer to expiring. Turns out the shed is 10 by 12 and the county has it listed as a storage building, not a garage, and nobody at the lender could just pick up the phone and verify that with the county. I finally got the clear to close last Friday and the whole deal went 71 days start to finish. Anyone else get hung up on some dumb little detail like a shed or a fence line that dragged the appraisal way out?
