Found a hidden clause in my refi docs that saved me $2,400 in closing costs

Turns out my lender had a 0.5% fee for early payoff that wasn't on the first page, and I only caught it because my buddy at the firm told me to skim the fine print on page 8; has anyone else stumbled on sneaky fees buried in their paperwork?

My uncle used to work at a car dealership and he told me that half the time they'd hide an admin fee in the glovebox paperwork of a lease, just hoping nobody would read close enough. Reminds me of the time I found a $50 "account maintenance charge" on my credit card statement that turned out to be the fine print for an old gym membership I canceled three years ago. It's wild how much money you can save just by flipping to the back pages of a contract like nobody else bothers to do.

Totally agree with @the_finley, finding those hidden fees feels like winning a small lottery.
