Appreciation post: A loan officer in Phoenix told me my 'fun money' line item was a red flag
I had 'vinyl records and a new grill' as a budget item for my cash-out refi, and he said underwriters prefer 'home improvement'. Now it's for a 'patio entertainment system'. Anyone else had to creatively rename their plans?

My buddy in Tucson had to call his man cave a "home office" for a tax write-off. The whole system is built on these little white lies. I got my deck approved as a "safety upgrade" because the old one was wobbly. It's all about finding the right words that make the bean counters happy, even if the grill is still just for burgers.
