Visited the new library in Boise and their wall-to-wall carpet choice is a maintenance nightmare waiting to happen.

The main reading room has a very light, loop-pile commercial grade installed directly over concrete, and I can already see high-traffic wear patterns forming after just six months.

Wait, they put loop pile right over concrete with no proper padding or moisture barrier? That's basically asking for mold and unraveling seams. @evan295 called it perfectly - that combo is doomed from day one. You can already see the wear paths forming in just six months, just wait until a chair leg snags a loop and starts a run. I almost tripped over my own shock reading that detail.

That light loop pile over concrete is a terrible combo. It's gonna look trashed in a year.

My old apartment had that exact setup. Honestly, I'm still finding beige carpet fibers in my socks.
