Tried hand sewing vs power stretcher on a tight hallway job yesterday

I did a 30 foot hallway in an old apartment building in Portland and hand sewing the seams actually looked cleaner than when I use the power stretcher, anyone else found that on narrow runs?

Power stretchers can definitely over-stretch in tight spaces and pull the carpet out of shape, especially in old buildings where the subfloor isn't perfectly level. Hand sewing gives you way more control on narrow runs like that, letting you ease the carpet in without distorting the pattern or the seams. Did you use a standard 1/8" blade or go with a skip blade to get that cleaner look?

Wait, aren't you supposed to hand sew seams on tight hallways?
