That time a commercial job in a school gym taught me to always double-check the glue spread rate

The specs called for a 3/16 notch but the spray adhesive underneath wasn't tacking right, and after pulling up 40 yards of failed carpet I realized the installer before me had accidentally used a 1/8 trowel on half the floor.

Whoa, hold on. You pulled up 40 yards of carpet that was already glued down? That's a whole day of work, minimum, just ripping it back up. And it was because someone mixed up a 1/8 trowel with a 3/16? That's a pretty big difference in glue spread. You could lose a whole bond just because the glue is too thin in spots. Man, I'd be cursing that installer for a good week.

Ugh 40 yards is brutal. Had a similar job last spring where we tiled a whole church basement and realized after we set the first 50 feet the thinset was skimming over way too fast. Turns out the mortar was like 2 months expired, nobody checked the date on the bucket. Spent the rest of the day chiseling up perfectly good tile and trying not to throw a hammer through a window. That 1/8 vs 3/16 mix up sounds like a nightmare, especially with spray adhesive underneath too.
