Pulled up a carpet in a 1950s house yesterday and found something wild underneath

Found 3 layers of old linoleum with newspaper padding from 1962. The date was right there in the classifieds section. Anyone else find old newspapers or weird stuff under old carpets?

Oh jeez, not this again lol. Honestly people act like finding old newspaper under carpet is some huge deal but it's really just trash someone used as padding. Like congrats, you found someone's recycling from 60 years ago, what do you want a medal? The carpet probably looked way better than that yellowed classified section anyway.

And the newspaper is always the best part of that find (especially when it's that old). I pulled up some shag carpet once and found a 1974 comic section underneath, which was way more interesting than the carpet itself. That 1962 date is a solid reminder of how much history we're literally walking on.
