Pulled up 400 sq ft of old berber in a rental in Toledo and the pad was basically dust
I got called out to this rental off Airport Highway last Tuesday to swap out some nasty berber that had been down since at least 2004. When I started pulling it back, the carpet came up fine but the pad underneath just crumbled in my hands, like it had zero bounce left in it. Turns out it was a 6 pound rebond pad that had been slowly breaking down from years of foot traffic and a few window leaks the landlord never fixed. I ended up hauling out 14 contractor bags of that junk and putting down a fresh 8 pound pad, and the difference when you walk on it now is like night and day. Any of you ever run into pad that just disintegrates like that, and do you try to upsell a better pad when the old one is that far gone?
