Old timer told me to wet my seams before stretching and I laughed at him

Guy with 30 years in the game said wetting the seam helps it relax before you stretch, so I tried it on a 12x15 room in Phoenix last month. The seam laid flat with zero ripples on the first try, no joke. Has anyone else done this or is he just lucky?

Man I felt the SAME way when my old man told me this years ago. Tried it on a dry job in Vegas last summer and it was night and day difference - seam laid down like butter and I didn't have to fight it at all. Just a spray bottle with water, mist it light, and you're golden.

Try it on a humid day too... the moisture helps the carpet fibers relax just enough before you stretch. I've been doing that trick in dry climates for years and it saves me from having to re-stretch the same seam twice. Works every time as long as you don't soak it, just a light misting.
