Old timer told me to stop fighting the seams and let them breathe

I was bitching about a wavy seam in a master bedroom in Avon last Tuesday and this guy who's been doing it since the 70s just said 'you're pulling too hard, let the carpet settle for 20 minutes then come back.' I tried it on the next room and swear the seam laid down almost perfect. Has anyone else had a weird little trick like that totally change how they work?

Yo that's wild because my buddy Tyler had almost the exact same thing happen to him on a job in Brownsburg last spring. He was fighting this one seam for like 45 minutes getting all pissed off and an old head just told him to walk away and get a drink, come back in 15 minutes. He thought the guy was messing with him but figured why not and when he came back the carpet had relaxed so much the seam basically fell into place on its own. Now he swears by it, tells everyone to just give the material a minute to chill before you start yanking on it.

Yeah "basically fell into place" is exactly what happened, letting it chill fixes most of the grief.
