Old timer told me power stretchers were overkill, now I get it
Back in 2018 I was doing a big living room in Austin and my boss handed me a power stretcher. I thought it was just extra gear to lug around. After stretching that 15 foot seam without a single ripple I realized the old ways cost me hours of fighting wrinkles. Anyone else learn a tool the hard way like this?

I mean idk why anyone would think a power stretcher is too much, because after fighting with a seam on some thick carpet in a rental once I swore I'd never go back. That thing just locks everything in place so you're not spending an hour trying to get the backing to lay flat with a knee kicker. Maybe it's just me but once you feel how tight it pulls without any guesswork, it's hard to argue with the tool. It totally saved my back too, which was a bonus I didn't expect.

Did you try doing a double hit on the seam after the power stretcher? I had this same problem in a rental hallway where the carpet kept curling up on me. What finally worked was stretching it once, then going back and giving it a second pass about an inch further back. That extra pull flattened everything out and the seam just disappeared. Knee kickers are fine for small closets but for a long run they're useless. Power stretcher is the only way to get that factory tight look without calling in a pro.
