My carpet started moving because I skipped glue on tack strips
I nailed down tack strips without adhesive for a long time, and it seemed fine in smaller rooms. But on a big living room install, the carpet began to pull away from the walls after a month. The strips had slid on the smooth subfloor, causing the whole thing to loosen. Now I always put a dab of construction adhesive on each strip before nailing it down. This small step keeps everything secure and stops any future shifting. Do not make the same mistake I did on large areas.

yeah learned that the hard way too lol. even in small rooms now i throw some glue down, stops any creeping over time. that tack strip slide is no joke on smooth concrete.

Learned that after my carpet decided to relocate itself. Whole room looked like a wrinkled mess. Glue is my best friend now.

Tried to skip the glue step to save an hour, ended up with a carpet bubble so big my cat used it as a hill. Had to basically redo the whole room after it crept halfway to the door (a truly humbling sight). Now I'm that guy gluing down corners on a brand new install, just in case.
