I used to stretch every room by hand, now I use a power stretcher and my knees thank me
Back when I started in 2016 I did every bedroom with a knee kicker and a lot of cussing, and after a 12x15 in a house in Dayton my knees would be shot for two days. A old installer named Ray let me try his power stretcher on a job last spring and the carpet locked in tighter with half the effort. Now I use a power stretcher on anything over 10 feet and just use the kicker for closets and stairs. My body feels better at the end of the week and the seams look cleaner too. Anyone else made that switch, or do some of you still stretch the whole house by hand?
Switched about a year ago and never looked back. The power stretcher pulls the carpet way tighter than my knee ever could, so the seams lay flat and my body is not wrecked at the end of the day. Kicker stays in the truck for closets and stairs only.
