Hit a sprinkler line in a condo install yesterday
Was stretching a 12 foot seam in a ground floor unit near Portland and heard that awful hiss. Turns out the builder ran poly pipe right under the slab edge and my kicker punched straight through. Had to shut off the water, cut out a 2 foot piece, and couple in a repair section with a sharkbite I keep in my truck. Owner wasn't mad because her sprinklers haven't worked since spring anyway. Anybody else keep random plumbing parts just for moments like this?

Honestly Tim's lucky he even found a neighbor with a bucket, most people around here don't even know where their main shutoff is. But ngl, that sharkbite move is pure gold for those moments when you're sweating it in a finished condo. I've got a whole tackle box in my truck with random fittings, a couple of sharkbites, a mini pipe cutter, and some PEX rings just for stuff like this. It's not like I plan on hitting lines, but once you've done it a few times you learn to prep for the worst case scenario. Tbh that sprinkler line was probably a ticking time bomb anyway if the builder ran it that shallow under the slab.

My buddy Tim did that same thing last month and had to beg his neighbor for a bucket.
