Hit 1,000 square feet of carpet laid in a single day for the first time last Friday

I was working a big house in the suburbs and I just kept my head down, no music, no breaks except lunch, and I was shocked when I added it up that night - has anyone else ever surprised themselves with a personal record like that?

Why would anyone want to brag about hitting a number like that... I mean, if you're working that fast you're probably cutting corners on quality or just rushing through the job. Carpet laying is about doing it right, not setting speed records.

Why would anyone assume you're cutting corners just because you found a rhythm that worked for you? Some days everything just clicks and you flow faster without sacrificing quality, especially when you're experienced enough to know where you can pick up the pace. Hitting a personal record doesnt mean you're rushing through the job, it just means you were in the zone and everything lined up perfectly for once.
