Guy at the supply house swore by that seaming iron, cost me a callback
Last month a rep at the distributor told me to ditch my normal seamer and use the heavy one for all residential seams. I figured he knew what he was talking about, so I did it on a 12x14 bedroom in Tacoma. The heat melted the backing and the seam opened up three days later. Customer called, I had to go back and redo it with my old iron. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from a supply house that they regretted following?

That heavy iron works great on commercial stuff but it's way too hot for residential backing, trust your old one.
