Found out my knee pads have a 5 year replacement cycle from the manufacturer's website

I was killing time reading the fine print on my ProKnee pads and saw they recommend swapping them every 60 months, which explains why my left one has been squeaking since last fall has anyone else noticed their gear wearing out faster than expected?

The squeaking thing is probably just the hinges needing a drop of oil. ProKnee puts that 5 year guideline in there mostly for the foam and elastic parts breaking down from sweat and dirt, not the plastic shells. I've had a pair last almost 8 years before the straps started fraying. The wear you're noticing depends a lot on how often you're actually on concrete versus carpet or hardwood.

Yeah the "foam and elastic breaking down" thing is exactly what happened to my buddy Dave. Dude's pair literally started crumbling after like 4 years because he never wiped the sweat off and left them in his truck.
