Double glue down on concrete failed after 6 months in Phoenix

I tried using the same adhesive for both the tack strip and the carpet on a slab job, thinking it would save time on a 1,200 square foot install at a rental property in Phoenix. Six months later the owner called because the carpet rippled near the sliding door, and when I pulled it up the adhesive had turned to powder from the heat coming through the concrete. Do any of you use a different glue for high-heat slabs, or is this just a case where you gotta bite the bullet and do a proper moisture test first?
