Cut a seam dead wrong in a hurry last Tuesday and almost ruined the whole job

I was installing some plush carpet in a new build out in Buford and I got cocky with my seam cutter. There was this hallway with three doorways in a row and I thought I could save time by cutting all the seams at once without double checking the pile direction. I lined everything up, made my cuts, and when I went to tape the seam the light hit it just right and I could see the color shift clear as day. The pile was running opposite on one side. I had to pull up a 12 foot section and recut it, which ate up an extra 45 minutes and cost me about 60 bucks in waste. Has anyone else had a stupid moment like that trying to rush a seam?

I used to think pile direction was something you could fudge on plush carpet, but that 45 minute do-over totally changed my mind. Did you have to waste any extra material on that, or were you able to salvage the cut pieces?

The only thing I salvaged was my pride after I tried to use the scraps for a closet and they looked like a confused checkerboard. Maybe it's just me, but I swear the carpet knew I was trying to cheat and punished me accordingly. Now I just accept that pile direction is basically the carpet boss and I'm just its employee.
