Appreciation post: That flooring showroom in Denver had some wild carpet patterns

I was at a supply house off I-25 in Denver last Thursday picking up some padding and walked through their showroom. Man, they had this one carpet that looked like a 70s psychedelic rug but made with modern nylon fibers. The pattern was so busy I couldn't even tell where the seams would go. I asked the sales guy how anyone installs that stuff without going cross-eyed and he just laughed and said they use a ton of pattern repeat markings. Made me realize how much easier normal textures are to work with. Has anyone else run into those super busy patterns on a job and had to figure out the repeat on the fly?

Buddy of mine had to lay that exact same psychedelic style in a basement bar last year... said he spent more time matching the pattern than actually installing the carpet.

Wait, that pattern repeat thing is no joke? Because I've always wondered how installers don't lose their minds on those wild carpets. The seam matching must be a nightmare when the design repeats every 18 inches or something crazy like that. Your buddy probably had to cut and recut like three times before it lined up. That's the kind of stuff that makes you appreciate a simple Berber or a solid commercial grade loop pile. Those busy patterns hide dirt well but they sure do make the installation a headache.
