An old customer in Detroit taught me more about seams than my first boss did
Back in 2003 I was doing a living room in a brick bungalow on the west side, and this retired lady watched me work the whole time without saying a word for two hours. When I got to a tricky doorway transition, she finally spoke up and told me to stop fighting the carpet and let it fall where it wanted, then showed me a trick with a knee kicker I'd never seen. Anyone else ever get handed a better method by a homeowner than from any training you paid for?
