Am I the only one who thinks glue-down carpet is way overhyped now?
I went to a big flooring expo in Chicago last month and saw a ton of vendors pushing glue-down residential carpet like it's the next big thing. They were all talking about how it lays flatter and never ripples, but I've been doing stretch-in for 12 years and I see it differently. Glue-down seems great for commercial spaces with heavy traffic, but for a living room with a 4-year-old and a dog, the cleanup and replacement are a nightmare. I get that it doesn't wrinkle on stairs, but a bad glue job can bubble up in a year if the subfloor isn't perfect. So what's your take do you guys prefer glue-down for houses or is stretch-in still the way to go in most cases?

Hate how everything these days gets marketed as some kind of upgrade when half the time it's just a different set of headaches. Same thing happened with those "no maintenance" composite decks, turns out they just rot from the inside instead.

Yeah, but composite decks don't rot. They just warp and fade instead.
