A customer in Phoenix showed me why my seams were failing
Had a callback last month on a bedroom install. Seam was lifting right where the door meets the hall. I was ready to blame the glue or the carpet. Homeowner comes out and says 'you stretched it fine but you didnt back roll it enough on the seam.' Man I was about to argue but he was right. I was barely overlapping 1 inch and using a 15 pound roller. He had me watch him do a test piece. Overlap 2 inches, cut both, roll it 3 passes each direction. Changed my whole setup. Now I carry a 40 pound roller on every job. Has anyone else had a homeowner teach them something basic that saved their butt later?
