Why does nobody talk about marking your cut line with a chisel instead of a pencil

Chisel line is way better than pencil, no question. Pencil rubs off and then you're guessing where the cut was supposed to be. The chisel gives you a little groove to ride your saw against, keeps everything straight. Takes ten extra seconds and saves you a whole board when you mess up. Surprised it's not just how everyone learns it.
