Wasted $400 on a "pro-grade" miter saw stand that barely works
Bought this heavy duty miter saw stand from a big box store last spring because the display model looked solid. Got it home and the brackets for the material supports are so flimsy they sag with a 2x4 on them. The quick release lever stripped out after like 3 adjustments too. I ended up just building my own setup from some 2x6s and casters for under $80. Has anyone else found a better folding stand that actually holds up to daily use?

Saw the same stand at the store and almost grabbed one myself until I talked to a contractor buddy who told me to save my money. He said those big box store stands are built for weekend warriors not guys who use them every day. You gotta look at the actual weight ratings on the brackets before you buy, most of them are only rated for like 25 pounds per side even though the box says "heavy duty". The Dewalt stand holds up better but honestly for the price you paid you could have gotten a used one off Craigslist that would last you years instead of months.

Does it feel like everything now is built to barely survive a single season? I swear you used to buy something like a miter saw stand and it would outlast your car, now they design things to fail so you'll replace them. If more people knew how to check actual specs instead of just trusting 'heavy duty' on a box, contractors wouldn't be able to charge double for the real stuff.

25 pounds per side? That is practically useless for anything bigger than a chop saw. I would have been so mad finding that out after buying one.
