Walked through a house flip in Boise and the trim carpenter mitered every outside corner instead of coping, looks wrong up close

I get that mitering is faster and the painter can just caulk the gap, but standing in that hallway I could see every joint open up a little more than the one before it, so I'm curious if anyone here still copes their inside corners on paint grade or have you all switched over too.
