That retired foreman at the lumberyard stopped me mid-cut with one question

He asked why I was fighting the grain when the moisture content on that oak was clearly 14% by the sticker, and after he showed me to skew the blade angle on my circular saw, I've never fought a split again, anyone else get handed advice like that from a stranger on a Tuesday morning?
