Switched from palm nailer to pin nailer for cabinet trim, game over in 2 days
Been doing cabinet installs for about 8 years now and always used a palm nailer for the nailers and trim. Last week I had a job in Austin where the trim was super thin and brittle, kept splitting no matter how careful I was. Buddy on site said try his pin nailer, 23 gauge, said trust him. I thought it would be too weak to hold anything. Used it on the whole kitchen, zero splits, held just as good after the glue dried. Did a second kitchen yesterday with it and I'm honestly mad I waited this long. Anyone else made the switch? What size pins do you run for face frames?
Damn, I feel your pain on that thin trim splitting thing, that's been the bane of my existence more times than I can count. Switching to a pin nailer was a total lightbulb moment for me too, held up fine once the glue cured.
