Switched from a combo square to a framing square for long cuts, saved my back
I used to fight with a 12-inch combo square trying to mark 8-foot rip cuts on plywood. Kept bending over and realigning, got old fast. Finally grabbed a 4-foot aluminum framing square from Home Depot for $25. One pass, straight line, done in 30 seconds. Anyone else stick with a tool way longer than you should before upgrading?

Tried the same thing and then spent twenty minutes chasing the cat off my workbench...

A framing square really is the way to go for long cuts. My back was killing me too before I made the switch. That combo square nonsense is fine for short stuff but not for full sheets. Bending over and resetting ten times is just bad planning honestly. You made a smart move spending that 25 bucks. Your knees and spine will thank you later.
