Question about switching from hand planes to powered jointers

I used to flatten all my workbench tops with a hand plane. Took me 3 full days for a 6 foot slab last year. Finally borrowed a buddy's jointer last month and finished the same job in 4 hours. Felt like cheating honestly. But I wonder if I'm losing some feel for the wood grain doing it the easy way. Any of you guys mix both methods or stick to one?

Oh man, it felt like I blinked and missed half of it! I was checking my phone for a second and when I looked up it was already the credits. Time just does that weird thing where it speeds up when you're not paying attention.
