My old foreman Sal in Jersey told me to stop scribbling measurements on scrap wood, and I finally get why
I ran into Sal at a supply yard in Newark last month, first time in 6 years, and he laughed when he saw the pencil marks all over my 2x4 offcuts. He said he keeps a 3x5 notebook in his nail bags and has for 30 years, one page per job, and he can look up any cut list he ever made. I tried it for two weeks now and I already caught a mistake on a stair stringer I would have missed. So do you guys log your cuts somewhere or just wing it off the scrap pile?
