Measured my 500th doorway today, still got it wrong

Last week I hit my 500th doorway install since I started keeping count in 2021, and wouldn't you know it, I still managed to cut one jamb 3/8 inch short. The homeowner in Des Moines caught it before I did, which stung a bit. Number 500 out of 500, you'd think I'd have the process down to a science, but that sill plate had a hump I didn't account for. Anyone else hit a milestone only to make a rookie mistake on the same job?

That hump in the sill plate gets everyone eventually. I always run a straight edge across the opening before I cut anything, and if there's even a quarter inch of rise, I add it to my jamb length. Better to measure twice and look at the floor than to trust your count.
