Just read that a single 2x4 stud can hold over 1,000 pounds vertically, which seems crazy high to me.

Yeah, that "over 1,000 pounds" figure always blows my mind too... I've seen stacks of them holding up crazy weight on a jobsite.

Gotta wonder if that weight rating is for a perfect lab test though. Seen plenty of those blocks crack under way less on uneven ground. A stack might hold up, but one solo block with a bad spot in the concrete? Not betting my paycheck on it. The real world is way harder on them than a controlled test.
