I blew $150 on a fancy laser level that couldn't handle sunlight on a job site
Bought a Bosch self-leveling line laser thinking it'd be my new best friend, but soon as I took it outside on a sunny deck it was completely invisible, and now I'm back to using my old $40 chalk line and bubble level for exterior work. Has anyone found a laser that actually works in direct sun, or is that just a pipe dream?

The Bosch units are rated at like 5 milliwatts, which is nothing once the sun hits it. Did you check the beam brightness rating before you bought it, or did you just assume any green laser would cut it outside?

Wait, did you even try using it on a bright afternoon? I made that exact mistake last summer. Bought a green laser level for a deck job, thought it would be fine. Completely invisible outside at noon. Total waste of money. Had to return it and get a much stronger one.
