Dropped $180 on a Festool track saw and it paid for itself in 2 weeks
I was using a circular saw and a straight edge for years on cabinet jobs. Bought a Festool TS 55 at the beginning of a big kitchen remodel and it cut my time in half. No more fighting with clamps and crooked cuts. Anyone else bite the bullet on a high end saw and feel dumb they didn't do it sooner?

I cut my time in half" is the key part here. That's what people don't get about buying nice tools. They just see the price tag and think you're wasting money. But time is the one thing you can't get back. I notice this with a lot of stuff in life, not just tools. People will spend hours fighting with a cheap thing that breaks, when spending a little more upfront saves them days of frustration down the road. It's like cheap shoes or a bad mattress. You pay for it one way or another, either in cash or in hassle.

Cheap tools also teach you bad habits. You learn to wrestle with stuff instead of working with it. There's a whole set of skills you never develop when you're constantly fighting against junk.
