Can we talk about setting up a safe workshop for curious toddlers?

My three-year-old is always trying to get into my tools. I started by putting all sharp objects in locked cabinets. Then I set up a low bench with soft wood blocks for him to play with. This way, he stays busy and safe from harm.

Foam pool noodles cut with safety scissors worked great for my toddler's bench.

Locking up the sharp stuff was smart. I had to do the same when my niece would visit my shop. Giving them their own safe space to mess around with soft materials really cuts down on the curiosity for the real tools. It's all about redirecting that energy before they find something dangerous.

What soft materials did you find worked best? Seems like that's the key to keeping them away from the dangerous stuff.
