A client in Spokane insisted on using 1/4 inch plywood for a shed floor and it sagged in a week.

He looked me dead in the eye and said 'It held my old lawnmower just fine' while we were standing on the new, wobbly floor, so what's the wildest material substitution you've had to talk someone out of?

Cardboard boxes for insulation is nuts lol. My buddy's neighbor tried to use old carpet scraps as roof shingles, said it was "just as waterproof." It rained and his living room turned into a pool.

Cardboard insulation reminds me of the time my uncle used old pizza boxes to level a table and called it 'smart recycling.' Guess I can't judge too hard though, @leo_murphy, since I once tried to patch a hole in my drywall with ramen noodles and super glue. It held up for about 3 days before crumbling into a sad, salty mess.
