Warning: Paid $300 for a resume writing service and got back generic junk

I paid a company online to rewrite my resume for a marketing job in Chicago and they basically just swapped out a few words and added a box for skills. I could have done that myself in an hour... anyone else get burned by one of these services?

Three years ago I paid a guy on Fiverr $150 to fix my resume and got back something with my name spelled wrong in the header... I ended up finding a local career counselor who charged $200 and actually sat down with me for an hour to talk about my actual experience. She rewrote everything from scratch and I got three interviews in the first two weeks after I started using it. My advice would be to look for someone local who you can talk to face to face or at least on a video call before you pay them.
