Tried cold emailing recruiters directly instead of applying online and got zero responses from 50 emails

I spent two days tailoring messages to hiring managers at tech companies in Austin and didn't hear back from a single one, so I guess the old advice about skipping the application portal is dead.

Stop emailing and start calling. 50 is nothing.

Did you check your emails aren't going to spam?

Check your spam folder, cold emails from new addresses often get flagged. I had the same issue until I started using a separate domain that made my messages look less promotional. Might be worth testing a different email address before giving up on the approach entirely.
