Threw $300 at a 'career coaching' program that just taught me how to update a resume badly

Paid $300 for a 6-week program that basically gave me a template I could've found for free online, so has anyone else gotten burned by these overhyped coaching packages or am I just salty?

Check your local library or community college next time, a lot of them have free career workshops that actually help. Those coaching programs tend to just repackage outdated templates and call it a curriculum, total waste of cash. Ask for a refund if you can, some of them will fold if you push hard enough.

You know what, I actually used to be one of those people who thought career coaching programs were worth the money. I dropped $400 on one last year because they promised "industry insider secrets" and all that jazz. But then a buddy dragged me to a free workshop at our local library, and it was honestly way more practical. They had someone from a real HR department come in and show us how to actually fix our resumes, not just fill out templates. The coaching program I used was just a bunch of generic advice I could've googled. So yeah, you changed my mind completely. I wish I had listened to people like you before I wasted that cash.
